Finding a room should not feel like settling for the least confusing listing you can find. For many people, a room is the practical route into a new city, a new neighbourhood or a more affordable home. For others, it is a way to make better use of a home they already live in.
Yet the room rental market is difficult to navigate. Information is often scattered, essential details are missing, and the right fit depends on far more than an address. Budget, furnishing, the type of shared home and everyday preferences all matter. The challenge is similar to the wider property market: the people and places that could be a good fit do not always find each other easily.
That is why Rooms are now a dedicated marketplace in Wishplace, alongside Homes.
Search for a room or publish one
From Properties and Wished, you can now choose whether you are working with Homes or Rooms. If you have a room available, create a Room Listing. If you are looking for one, create a desired-room wish place and make your intent visible.
Rooms are not simply a shortened property form. The experience is designed around shared living, with room-specific onboarding, publishing, settings, details, filters, matching and renewal flows. Clear Homes and Rooms selectors, localized labels and visible counts help you stay in the right part of the marketplace at every step.
Room details that make matching more useful
When a room is involved, the details shape the decision. The new room preferences help people describe what matters to them, including:
- Shared-home criteria and room configuration
- Furnished status and bed size
- Budget and room-specific preferences
- A room listing or a desired room, depending on what you need
This gives Wishplace more useful context for potential matches. It does not make decisions for anyone or replace the checks people should make themselves; it helps make the discovery process clearer so users can decide whom they want to contact.
A clearer path through a fragmented room market
The room market can be fast-moving and fragmented. A person looking for a room may have to search several places, compare incomplete descriptions and repeat the same preferences over and over. Someone offering a room may struggle to reach people whose budget, location and shared-home expectations make sense.
Wishplace is built to improve that starting point. You can publish what is available or express what you are looking for, then use tailored filters and matching to explore possible compatibility. Better address validation and custom names make places easier to recognise, while improved empty states and calls to action make the next useful step more obvious.
The same principle already guides Homes in Wishplace: make demand more visible, make listings easier to understand and help the right conversations begin. Rooms brings that approach to a part of the housing market where compatibility is especially important.
Better discovery for Homes and Rooms
This release also improves how listing types appear throughout the app. AI suggestions identify their listing type clearly where they are available. Separately, Rooms have their own room-specific details, filters and matching flow. Marketplace intent is better separated, and the default search radius is now 15 km, helping discovery stay relevant to the area a person actually wants to consider.
Whether you are looking for a full home, a room, or a future place to live, the marketplace is easier to scan and manage in the appropriate context.
More improvements in this release
Rooms are the headline feature, but this version also makes Wishplace more useful and reliable across the product.
Marketplace insight and dashboard improvements
The dashboard has a clearer structure, lighter cards, stronger loading and error handling, report queues and moderation support. Its 30-day marketplace insights now understand Rooms too. Pulse statistics have also been refined with more natural city, property and room information, improved city ordering, clearer wording and more responsive charts.
Notifications in the right language and place
Property, room, wish-place and desired-room notifications remain distinct, retain the recipient's selected language and open the right destination in the app. Expiry reminders are more resilient through a rolling warning window and recovery for missed scheduler runs. When several items are nearing expiry, Wishplace can consolidate them into one translated summary instead of creating a noisy sequence of alerts.
Smoother everyday use
We improved autosave feedback across forms, so repeated successful saves do not stack unnecessary messages while errors remain visible. Android navigation after creating a listing or saving settings is more reliable, and forms better preserve focus, custom names and values while saving. We also expanded translations and automated coverage across marketplace, Room settings, notifications, Pulse, profile and persistence flows.
Rooms is an important step towards a more complete Wishplace marketplace. Whether you are offering a room, looking for a shared home or exploring your next move, Wishplace gives you a clearer way to start.
